In addition, two-time Pipeline Masters champion Gerry Lopez, who served as one of the six surfing masters in the production of the film, also appears in a cameo as himself during the final surfing section of the film. With this reunion, the transition in their lives becomes the end point of what the 1960s meant to so many as they see that the times have changed, and what was a time of innocence is gone forever.

The friends reunite years later, after Barlow has served in Vietnam, for the "Great Swell of '74". The three make the difficult transition to adulthood with parties, surf trips, marriage, and the war. Their surfing lives are traced from the summer of 1962, to their attempts at dodging the Vietnam War draft in 1965 (including faking insanity, homosexuality, and all manner of medical ailments), and to the end of their innocence in 1968 when one of their friends is killed in Vietnam. The friends include: Matt Johnson, a self-destructive type who has a devil-may-care attitude Jack Barlow, the calm and responsible one of the bunch and Leroy "The Masochist" Smith, whose nickname tells a lot about his personality. The film tells the story of three young friends whose passion in life is surfing. Spielberg in particular was certain that Big Wednesday was going to be a box office hit, opining it was like " American Graffiti meets Jaws", two of the decade's most successful films. Milius and his friends George Lucas and Steven Spielberg famously agreed to exchange a percentage point of Big Wednesday, Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind prior to the release of the three films throughout 1977-1978. Raised in Southern California, Milius made Big Wednesday as an homage to the time he spent in Malibu during his youth. The picture stars Jan-Michael Vincent, William Katt, and Gary Busey as California surfers facing life and the Vietnam War against the backdrop of their love of surfing. Written by Milius and Dennis Aaberg, it is loosely based on their own experiences at Malibu, California. And there are side dishes and options for extra ingredients available for any dish, ranging from 15,000 IDR (approximately 1 USD).Big Wednesday is a 1978 American coming of age film directed by John Milius. One dish here ranges from around 40,000 IDR (approximately 3 USD). And with just around 1 USD additional charge, you’ll get a taller boot-shaped glass like the ones you can see in the picture above. The regular one is served in a tall glass and costs around 50,000 IDR (approximately 3.5 USD). They are available in two sizes: regular or jumbo. Oh, yum! Just thinking back about it makes me crave some more. While Mary Poppins blends the sweetness of caramel with coffee liquor. The New Yorker is a rich mix of caramel and chocolate. But I got these two of their best: The New Yorker and Mary Poppins. You can choose from the classic options like strawberry milkshake or chocolate milkshake. These milkshakes are not just bringing all the boys to the yard, but everyone else! A good milkshake is all about good quality ice cream blended perfectly with other ingredients to make it so rich and flavorful! And Cosmic Diner serves exactly that.

Doesn’t it make you feel like you can reenact a scene from American TV shows?Ĭosmic Diner is open every day from 10:00 am to 11:30 pm. It’s just a built-in part of the restaurant to make you feel like you’re inside of a trailer as you step in. There are many seating types you can choose from, but I suggest you pick a seat inside the “trailer van.” It’s not a moving vehicle. So classic! And as you open the door, American music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s will welcome you: from Rock n’ Roll-ing Elvis Presley to nostalgically soothing Frank Sinatra. From afar, you will see the red, white, and blue of the American flag and the black and white checkered style of the building. Walking in to the restaurant, you get the idea of how committed they are in living up to the American theme. They are not just Asian food with a twist of American flavors like most restaurants around here do. And the American foods they serve are legit.
